Assistant Principal for Student Activities (Activities Coordinator) – Pullman High School

The Activities Coordinator will plan, schedule, monitor, and supervise student activities programs and staff/volunteers at Pullman High School. The Activities Coordinator will mentor and guide student leadership organizations such as Student Council, Athletic Council, Spirit Club, etc. He/She will provide leadership to develop and maintain coherence of activities across all grade levels throughout the district.

Qualified candidates should possess, or be eligible for, a Washington State Secondary Principal credential, have a minimum of three years successful secondary teaching experience, and reside within the boundaries of the Pullman School District within a reasonable period after appointment.

Examples of job duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

Assist the principal in administering school programs, primarily extracurricular activities and the ASB, according to the approved policies and procedures of the District
Mentor and guide student leadership organizations such as Student Council, Athletic Council, Spirit Club, etc., in collaboration with the principal
Serve as the District liaison for K-12 extracurricular programs to coordinate developmental continuity of programs
Coordinate and schedule high school facilities use/rental according to District policies and procedures and maintain master activity calendar
Serve as the liaison to related parent groups/organizations

Athletic Director

Basic Summary

The Athletic Department at Tacoma Community College currently offers intercollegiate athletic competition in six sports for men and women through membership in the Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges (NWAACC). Reporting to the Vice President for Student Services, the Director is responsible for administering all aspects of the Athletic Department, including facility management, program supervision and fundraising activities.

Essential Functions

Hire, supervise, develop and evaluate coaching staff, clerical and athletic staff and other support staff.
Provide overall leadership to the athletic program, including coordination of student recruitment.
Ensure compliance with NWAACC rules and regulations, approve eligibility lists, make eligibility determination, and prepare eligibility petitions.
Develop and implement a fundraising program to support the athletic department in cooperation with the TCC Foundation.
Provide overall responsibility for the management of wellness and athletic facilities.
Serve as college liaison to the community; develop partnerships to identify and enhance resources.
Promote academic achievement of student-athletes.
Provide mentoring, leadership, volunteering and community involvement opportunities for student athletes.
Develop and administer departmental budget; develop departmental strategic plans and outcomes.
Ensure compliance with college policies and procedures.
Stay current on Title IX policies and insure compliance.
Maintain all essential records and documentation.
Provide leadership to the coordination of all athletic events, including scheduling of games, practice schedules, use of facilities, etc.
Collaborate with Student Programs to offer intramural and other recreational opportunities for students.
Evaluate effectiveness of facilities and equipment.
Facilitate departmental meetings.
Develop and evaluate the master plan for athletics.
Serve on college committees and participate in college governance.
Promote the athletic program both internally and externally (i.e., web, mail, etc.)
Represent the College at professional associations, including performing duties as NWAACC commissioner.
Perform related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelors degree in physical education, athletics administration, recreation or closely related field from an accredited college or university.
Five (5) years of experience in athletics with a minimum of three (3) years of closely related leadership and management experience.
Experience using Microsoft Professional Suite.

Preferred Qualifications

Masters degree in Athletic Administration or related closely field from an accredited college or university.
Coaching or teaching experience.
Experience working in a community college or higher education setting.
Experience working as an athletic director or assistant athletic director.

Conditions of Employment

Successful completion of a criminal history background check.
Must possess a current, valid, unrestricted driver’s license.

Terms of Employment

This is full-time professional position contracted on an annual basis. The salary range for this position is $55,000 – $65,000 annually DOE/DOQ. The salary will be prorated to reflect the actual number of contract days worked in the remainder of the fiscal year. Flexibility is required to meet the needs of the department. Flexibility in scheduling is required to meet the needs of the department. Degrees must be from accredited colleges or universities recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and verified by official transcripts.

Responsibilities will include:

Compliance with all BBHS, Metro League, and WIAA policies and procedures
Supervision of student-athletes during all team activities
Effective communication with athletes, coaching colleagues, supervisor, and parents
Promotion of sportsmanship, camaraderie, and fair play among team members
Effective development of participants’ skills

Track & Field is a spring sport. The season runs from early March through late May 2014. Compensation depends on experience.
